Why I Blend Reiki, Massage, and Sound in My Sessions

If you live with chronic pain, stress, or a sensitive nervous system, you probably know the feeling of wondering what will actually help. Do you need deep tissue work for your tight muscles, energy work for your anxiety, or simply a quiet room where your system can finally exhale?
For me, the answer is rarely “just one thing.” The body, mind, and energy are always in conversation, so my sessions at Makali Healing Arts are built around supporting all three.
Massage is the hands‑on piece of the work.
Through techniques like Swedish massage, deep tissue, myofascial release, and trigger‑point therapy, we can:
Soften tight, overworked muscles
Improve circulation and mobility
Ease areas that feel locked, achy, or heavy
Help your body remember what ease feels like
This is especially supportive if you carry tension in your neck, shoulders, jaw, or low back, or if your body feels like it’s always bracing.
Reiki is a gentle, light‑touch or no‑touch practice that works with your subtle energy system. Many people experience it as warmth, waves, tingling, spaciousness, or simply deep calm.
In a session, Reiki can support:
Emotional release and softening around old patterns
A quieter mind and more mental clarity
Feeling more grounded and connected to yourself
Regulation for a frazzled or overwhelmed nervous system
For folks who are highly sensitive, empathic, or touch‑averse, Reiki offers a way to receive support without needing intense physical pressure.
One of the reasons I love blending these modalities is what happens when Reiki comes first.
Reiki helps your body and nervous system shift out of “stress mode” and into deeper relaxation. As your system settles, your muscles can soften and your guard can come down. From that place, the physical work of massage doesn’t have to push through as much resistance; it can meet your tissues more gently and often sink in more effectively.
Rather than forcing your body to let go, we invite it to feel safe enough to release.
Sound healing adds another layer of support to this process.
In The Reiki-Integrative Massage and 1:1 Reiki Soundbath, sound is woven into the sessions as a core part. Gentle vibration and tone from tools like tuning forks or other instruments can:
Encourage your brain waves to drop into more meditative states
Support the regulation of your nervous system
Create a soothing, spacious atmosphere for integration
For other services, sound is available as an optional add‑on if you feel called to incorporate vibration and tone into your experience, or you’re curious about deepening the nervous‑system support you receive.
No two sessions look exactly the same, because no two days in your body are exactly the same.
You might arrive with a tight jaw and a busy mind, or with a low back that’s been yelling at you for weeks. We start with a check‑in about what your body is holding physically, emotionally, and energetically that day. From there, I design the session around you rather than a fixed routine.
Your time on the table might include focused massage on key areas of tension and Reiki to calm and balance your energy. When it feels supportive, we may also incorporate sound, depending on the service you choose, either as a built‑in part of the session (like The Reiki-Integrative Massage or 1:1 Reiki Soundbath) or as an add‑on you select.
My intention is that you leave feeling not just “worked on,” but more present in your body softer, clearer, and a little more like yourself.
This way of working can be especially supportive if you:
Live with chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, or ongoing fatigue
Feel “stuck” in fight‑or‑flight or shutdown
Are highly sensitive or easily overwhelmed by sensory input
Are navigating grief, transition, burnout, or big life changes
Want healing that honors both your physical body and your energy
You don’t have to know which modality you need before you arrive. That’s the beauty of integrative work there is room for all of you.
If this approach resonates with you, I’d love to welcome you into my healing space at Salon Suites in Abington. You can begin with a Signature Tailored Massage, The Makali Experience, or a 1:1 Reiki Soundbath. Each session is customized to what your body and nervous system need most that day, with sound automatically included in The Reiki-Integrative Massage and in the 1:1 Reiki Soundbath, and available as an add‑on for other services.
Signature Tailored Massage – A customized massage session that blends therapeutic techniques and Reiki to meet your body’s needs that day.
The Reiki-Integrative Massage – An immersive session that weaves massage, Reiki, and sound together for deep nervous system support.
1:1 Reiki Soundbath – A fully clothed session combining Reiki and sound to help your energy and nervous system unwind.
